Salem’s very own Sustainable Living Center is helping to protect the health and wellbeing of Department of Human Services’ front line staff by facilitating the creation of cloth masks they can use. These workers include front line child welfare professionals and food stamp eligibility staff that are working with some of our most vulnerable populations.  The Adult Protective Services Specialists who respond to allegations of elder abuse in the community and in care facilities are also in need of masks. By creating masks we can help them protect themselves and others.

COVID-19 has taken our communities by storm as a great threat to the wellbeing of our community members but together we can save lives! When SLC saw the need, we didn’t hesitate to jump in the mix and take on the task at hand. Together, with a number of incredible volunteers we made hundreds of masks!
